Abstract
Spatial Augmented Reality adds virtual elements to the physical world, offering the user the opportunity to be immersed in this mixed environment. There are many applications especially in the arts (digital art), architecture, urbanism, etc..
In order to augment the real scene with virtual images through video-projection, these projections should then be made on surfaces clearly identified and delineated so that the projection is realistic and appropriate to the medium on which it is performed (in shape, texture and color).

Work program
The purpose of this work is to enable accurate contour detection and segmentation of the projection surfaces. We want to extract the precise contours of a region of interest can then restrict the projection area in this space. We can divide the work into several steps:
1- extraction of an area of interest in the image, from morphological, color, and textural characteristics
2- generation of a projection mask from the area of interest and adaptation of the projected image to mask
3-color compensation of the projected image for augmenting the projected surface and replacing the selected region of interest by the projected image
4-track area of interest during slow movements.
5-Implementation of the code created by GPU
Extra information
Prerequisite
Knowledge in image processing and 3D geometry are expected. The candidate will know how to code in C + +.
The student will interact with different members of the LIMSI, as well as a PhD student recruited by IEF on a complementary subject. You will therefore have to show a capacity to collaborate with researchers in other areas of virtual and augmented reality.
